上一个寒假英语作文一般过去时简单点
My Last Winter Vacation
Last winter vacation was the best ever! The whole two weeks
was so much fun. I did lots of cool things and had many
awesome adventures.
It all started on the first day of winter break. I woke up really
early because I was so excited to not have any school. My mom
let me stay in my pajamas all day and we made pancakes
together for breakfast. We put chocolate chips and whipped
cream on top - my favorite!
After breakfast, my dad took me and my little brother to the
park. It was freezing cold outside but we didn't care. We went
down the big twisty slide about a hundred times. My brother
tried to make a snowman but the snow wasn't really the right
kind. It was too powdery. Instead, we had an epic snowball fight!
My dad's team won because he's so tall he could throw the
snowballs really far.
When we got home, my mom had made hot chocolate with
extra marshmallows. We all snuggled up together on the couch
and watched a movie. I don't even remember what movie it was
because about halfway through I fell asleep!
A few days later, my cousins came over to spend the night.
We played Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo Switch until our
eyes felt like they were going to fall out. My cousin Kyle is really
good at that game so he beat me every time. But I didn't mind
because it was still fun.
We had a sleepover in the basement and stayed up telling
scary stories. Kyle's story about the haunted graveyard really
freaked me out! I made sure to leave the hallway light on when I
went up to bed. Just in case!
The next day we all went tobogganing at the big hill near my
house. We went so fast! A few times we actually went flying off
the toboggan and landed in the soft snow. It was hilarious. My
aunt brought a thermos of hot apple cider and we had cup after
cup to warm up our frozen hands and faces.
Later in the week, I got to go on a field trip with my Brownies
troop. We went to see a play about a grumpy old lady who was
really mean to her neighbors. But then at the end she learned to
be kind and made friends with everyone on her street. It was a
very funny play and the actress who played the grumpy lady was
incredible!
One of the highlights was when my grandparents came over
for a few days. They don't live too far away but I don't get to see
them that often. We baked about a million different kinds of
Christmas cookies together. We made sugar cookies,
gingerbread people, chocolate crinkles and those yummy peanut
butter ones with the criss-cross pattern on top.
Grandma let me decorate most of the cookies with sprinkles
and frosting. I got a little carried away with by
the end I could feel my heart pounding from all the sugar! But
Grandpa didn't seem to mind. He ate just as many as I did.
On Christmas Eve, we went to my aunt's house for a big
family dinner. All my cousins, uncles, aunts and grandparents
were there. We had a delicious turkey dinner with all the
trimmings like stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry
sauce. Everything was so yummy that I stuffed myself until I
could barely move!
After dinner, we all got together to exchange gifts. My
favorite present was the super cool light-up yo-yo that my uncle
got me. I loved making it glow in all the different colors. I'll
definitely be taking that to school for show-and-tell!
The day after Christmas, we finally got a big snowstorm.
There was over a foot of fresh fluffy snow everywhere! My
brother and I spent pretty much the whole day outside making
the most jumbo snow fort ever. We made tunnels and holes just
big enough to crawl through. It was like our own little snow
castle!
Later, my dad came out and helped us build a section tall
enough for grown-ups to fit in. When mom saw it she actually
gasped and said "Wow, you guys really went all out!" That night
we had a campfire right inside the snow fort and roasted
marshmallows for s'mores. It was magical.
On New Year's Eve, we stayed up way past our bedtimes to
watch the ball drop on TV at midnight. I've never made it that
late before! As the countdown got closer, we banged pots and
pans to make as much noise as possible when the clock struck 12.
I gave my parents a huge hug and yelled "Happy New Year!" at
the top of my lungs.
The very last day of vacation, I spent the whole afternoon
sledding at the park with my friends. We took turns riding the
sled together and challenging each other to see who could go
the farthest. We played until the sun started going down and our
parents made us come in for dinner. I was exhausted but so
happy.
That night when my mom tucked me into bed, I told her that
was literally the best winter break I've ever had. She smiled, gave
me a kiss on the forehead and said "Just wait until next year!" I
could barely sleep thinking about all the adventures I'll go on
next winter vacation. I can't wait!
