Teacher’s Book for Unit 5

Unit 5 Introduce a company

Motivating

 About the unit

Seeking opportunities to cooperate with potential business partners is very

important for many companies. During this process, making a presentation to introduce

your company is a good way to make a professional impression. It’s the right time to

lay the foundation for future business dealings and networking.

By making an

introduction that makes your company look attractive, you are building trust in new

business partners.

This unit mainly focuses on making a presentation about a company. In “Inputting”,

Ss will learn the general information, the necessary words and expressions concerning

the company to be introduced, as well as how to structure and deliver the presentation

effectively, before they complete the task in “Outputting”. “Extending” will help Ss get

more information about the company and get to know some cultural knowledge relevant

to the industry the company belongs to. After studying this unit, Ss will be able to make

a presentation about a company and understand the importance of demonstrating the

strength of a company to attract potential business partners.

 Teaching objectives

Upon completion of this unit, the T is expected to enable Ss to:

 list the words and expressions concerning a company profile (Listening &

Reading: Form)

 note down a client’s specific needs (Listening)

 describe the structure of a presentation (Structuring)

 list three key points about modern businesses (Listening & Reading:

Content)

 make a presentation to introduce a company (Outputting)

 Teaching suggestions

A production-oriented approach is suggested here. By adopting this approach, the

T needs to make clear the unit setting, the production task and the learning objectives

in “Motivating”. With the content, language and structure learned in “Inputting”, the T

can help Ss get prepared for the production task in “Outputting”. “Extending” is the

final stage where a follow-up listening and reading are carried out.
