the abbreviations in the rental ad

GCH = gas central heating

WM = white meter for electricity

WC = water closet = loo = toilet

N/S = no smoking

No DSS = usually prefixed by the word 'sorry', this means that the landlord doesn't want tenants

who will be claiming housing benefit

DG = double glazing

CT = council tax

PCM = per calendar month

PW = per week

lrg = large

sm = small

rm = room

also

bedsit = a room with its own cooking facilities but where you would share the bathroom and toilet

with the others.

en-suite rm = An en-suite room. It is a bedroom with its own bathroom or shower.

Nr stn = Near station.

Dep/refs reqd = Deposit and references required.

W/m = Washing machine,

m/w = Microwave.

Cls to all amenities = Close to shops, takeaways, restaurants

all mod cons = "All modern conveniences". There is no precise definition of what this means. It

could just mean you have a fridge and cooker. Ask what they mean by this phrase when you call

them.
