十年前的父母与现在的对比英语作文
Parents Now and Then
My parents are great, but they are really different from how
parents used to be ten years ago. Back then, moms and dads did
things in a totally different way. It's kind of hard to imagine now!
I'll start by talking about how parents act and what they're
like. Ten years ago, parents were much stricter with their kids.
They had a lot more rules and wouldn't let kids get away with
anything. If you talked back, you'd be in big trouble. Nowadays,
parents are a lot more relaxed and easygoing. They let kids have
way more freedom and don't get as upset about little things.
My dad says his parents were super strict and he was afraid
to disagree with them at all. But with me, if I have a different
opinion, my parents are okay with that. As long as I'm polite,
they'll listen to me and we can have a discussion about it. Parents
today are more interested in having a conversation instead of
just laying down the rules.
Another thing that's really different is how much time
parents spend with their kids. Ten years ago, moms and dads
were working all the time at their jobs. The parents would leave
early and come home late from the office or worksite. Kids spent
most of their awake time at school, daycare, or just hanging out
alone.
But now, parents make much more of an effort to be
involved in their kids' lives. My dad has a flexible schedule so he
can drop me off and pick me up from school most days. And my
mom only works part-time so she has time to help me with
homework, take me to activities, and spend quality time together.
Parents today are just way more present for their kids.
Technology has changed things a lot too. Looking back ten
years, parents didn't have all the gadgets and apps that make
their lives easier now. There were no schedules or calendars
shared online to help families coordinate everything. No GPS
maps on phones to find the quickest route. No instantaneous
communication through texting and video calls when parents
were apart from their kids.
These days, parents are always using technology to stay
connected and manage the household. My mom can video call
my dad from the grocery store to ask what we need. He can
check his schedule app to let her know when I have soccer
practice. With a few taps, they can plan our evening and split up
driving duties for my activities without missing a beat. Parents
ten years ago had to do all that through hand-written notes,
